I'm Sore and It Feels Good
Winter is more or less here. How do I know? Well, today I went snowboarding for the first time this season and it felt great to be out again. I’m a bit sore and tired, but it still feels good.
I woke up early this morning (earlier than I do during the week) and went to Bolton Valley with one of my coworkers. He had never gone before so I offered to give him a lesson. I’m not the best teacher because I taught myself how to snowboard seventeen years ago, I know how to do it, just can’t explain it well. After a couple hours of instruction and watching him fall on his ass, he seemed to be getting the hang of it so I left him alone at the toe rope and hopped on the lift to the top of the mountain. I like going fast, but I took it easy because I didn’t want hurt myself the first day and there were a lot of morons to avoid on the trail.
I bought a season pass to Bolton Valley this year. It’s expensive (even with my discount through work) but it’s worth it: winter is more fun, I get in shape, and it helps prevent cabin fever. I’m trying hard to keep busy; I don’t want to lose my marbles mid-winter like the previous few years.
