The music doesn’t do anything for me, but here’s a cool animated music video for The Longcut’s “A Tried and Tested Method”. Cleverly using infographics, it tells a story of modern dating. At least I think it does; I haven’t been on a date in… let’s just say it’s been awhile. Although, I’ve been on a few confusing and awkward date-like outings where I was sort of surrogate date or a platonic escort.

Royksopp’s “Remind Me” is similar, but not as effective. Both use a train entering a tunnel as a euphemism for sex and has been used everywhere from The Naked Gun to The Simpsons. They’re all references to Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest. Which, for its time, had a lot sexual references.

From the Irish Folk tune “She Was a Rum One:

“My trouble lies between my thighs
    And e’er it is abidin’
It tickles me baith night and day
And it keeps me from my stridin’
    ...
She gi’ed to me my winter’s beef
    Besides my winter’s fuellin’
Far better than that she’s gi’ed to me
Was a stable for my stallion.”

I prefer the Royksopp video because it’s infographics aren’t cluttered up by the obligatory shots of the band and an obvious narrative. But I’d not seen this and it really is good. Same goes for your blog — I’d not seen it and it’s good! I really like your journal work. Found you from Eva’s new blog. Blogrolling you now…
