Tom Doe the Cat

I was looking for something earlier and I came across a few photos of Tom, the cat who briefly lived with me. It was exactly a year ago when he was here.

Tom, I hope all is well. I miss you and think of you often. If you ever need a place to stay, you know where I am. I still have your litter box set up — it’s clean of course.

I need to stop or I’m going to cry.

That kitty reminds me of Winston. There is a video of him smashing his food flat with his face.

I hope he is doing well somewhere out there! You were very kind to take care of him. Looks like he was quite a mess. If I was a Christian I’d say, “Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, that you do unto me.”

Ha, that’s exactly what Tom did! When the food would get too flat he’d walk around it, seeing if he could get it from another angle. When that failed, he’d look up at me and say, “Excuse me, could you please fluff my food? I can’t get it, my face is smushed.”

Yeah, he had a lot of problems, which is probably why I loved him so much. I wish we didn’t give him back. Sometimes I sit in the park, where he was found, hoping to see him so I can take him home — I have a hard time letting go.

Remembering all this really makes me want to go adopt one. The only thing I need to do is pay the stupid fucking pet deposit to my landlord. I hope to have some extra money soon.

Friends have been telling me I should get a cat since I moved here four an a half years ago. I think they worry about me being lonely since I spend so much time alone and don’t have many friends. I keep saying I will, alas, for one reason or another, I haven’t. One friend said she’s just going to show up at my door with one someday.
