Ladies
The ladies love me… no, that’s not true… a lady loves me… wait, that’s not exactly true either… a lady tolerates me… occasionally… yes, that’s it. Anyway, this lady sent me some saucy photographs she took of herself, which were a welcome surprise to see in my inbox this evening after a hellish day. Being the I-can-do-something-with-these sort of guy — especially when there are semi-nude photographs involved — I messed around with them and made a little something (prints are available in our store that has yet to be created). Of course she blurred out her breasts so I had to guess (they look a bit off, I’ll have to fix them; sorry if I got the size wrong). I’m not going to post the original photos; I can’t afford to piss anyone off and I occasionally need to talk to someone other than myself, my coworkers, and that weird lady that asks me for a quarter everyday.
This is sort of a test. I’ve had the idea of doing something like this for awhile. The hard part is finding a source for materials. Not for the random bits of textures, I have plenty of those, but for models — human models. I’ve posted on here many times and asked around, but no one seems to be interested. The only one who’s interested is the same one who sent me the photos — she’s been my model for years. Unfortunately, she lives on the other side of the lake. If you know anyone who would be interested, contact me.
Also, when I got home from the office this evening, my roommate wanted me to take some photos of her to send to someone. Being the nice guy that I am, I obliged. It made me laugh.
Yup, there’s nothing like messing around in Photoshop after working in Photoshop all day at work. I suppose it’s good thing, I’m getting better at it. Besides, there’s not much else to do: it’s cold, my car is still buried from last week’s snow, and I need to keep busy.

Copying Myself
I’ve recently been flooded with ideas for new projects, artwork, and other creative endeavors. Combined with all the other things I need to do (full-time job, domestic duties, redesign this site, etc.) there isn’t enough time to execute them all — even with cutting sleep down to five hours a night and completely ditching the idea of having a social life. To solve this problem I tried making a copy of myself. Alas, it didn’t work. All I ended up doing is taking photocopying one’s ass to another level and providing more evidence that I spend a lot of time alone in my studio, have no shame, and love photocopiers — no, I didn’t go to a copy shop or work and strip down to my birthday suit, I have my own. (Click to see a larger… ahem… uncensored version.)
In all seriousness, this was an experiment for a new piece I’m working on: a life-size self-portrait. This is new for me because I usually work small. Plus, I’ve never (literally) used myself as a subject on my own volition. In school I did, but I didn’t like doing it or the results. It sure is convenient: I’m always around myself.
While I’m on the subject of subjects, I’m looking for models in the area. If you or someone you know is willing to do it, please contact me.
I’m currently working on some new pieces and getting some old ones together to submit to the Five Town Massive in Bristol, VT at the end of December. The deadline for submissions is November 15th.

Today's Postcards
Here are a few of the postcards I made today. Since it’s raining and I don’t want to get wet, I’ll probably have some more finished later. I’ll have the journal pages up as soon as they’re dry.

First 50
Earlier this evening, I went to the opening reception for First 50 at Kasini House. To be honest, my expectations for large group shows are pretty low, but this was a damn fine show. As is usual at opening receptions, I didn’t get to check out the work that much. I definitely need to go back for a second look.
I was a bit nervous about going because I haven’t shown in awhile and it was my first time showing in Burlington. Plus, I wasn’t ecstatic about the piece I submitted. Once I got there I was fine. I was fashionably late because I decided to make business cards at the last minute. I’m actually happier with the cards than I am with my piece.
Afterwards, I went down the street to Studio STK to check out a sneak preview of the upcoming fashion show Designer Logo. I pre-ordered a silkscreened t-shirt titled "DADA DA DUM”. It has an image of an updated version of Marcel Duchamp’s “R. Mutt” piece using a modern urinal. Lovely. Now I have one more addition to my Duchamp t-shirt collection.
Yup, just another night on North Street. Apparently, my street is becoming quite hip. A Starbucks should be coming any day now.
Junk Aesthetic
I’ll have some new work up here soon. For now, here are some pieces I did for a show in 2003.
